Waneka Lake

Waneka Lake, oil on canvas, 12x9
On a partly cloudy summer morning I set up to paint from the south shore of Waneka Lake near the boathouse. Ducks paddled among the branches overhanging the lake edge. Children laughed and screamed in the nearby playground. Joggers ran laps around the lake, while families set up picnic lunches beneath towering cottonwoods. Altogether a joyful respite.
