Yosemite Valley Commission

I created this large studio oil painting as a commission for a friend from high school in Arkansas. She and her family love to visit Yosemite National Park on vacations. My husband and I visited Yosemite on our honeymoon; and I also love the grandeur and awe inspiring beauty of the park. It was a joy to research and create this painting. In this view you see majestic El Capitan on the left, Half Dome near the center, Bridal Veil Falls towards the right, and some of the enormous pines in the foreground.

Learn to draw the human head in correct proportions with basic shading. If you ever struggle to sketch a portrait, this fun dabbler workshop will provide the tools and encouragement you need to begin drawing the portrait with confidence. Working with a model we will begin by posing and lighting the model and progress to sketching the head and features in correct proportions and with light and shadow patterns.
